Welcome To NSTRA's Website!
The National Shoot To Retrieve Association (NSTRA) was founded by a group of dedicated bird hunters looking for a way to extend the fun they enjoyed with their bird dogs after their season ended. Field Trials, under hunting conditions, were the answer. Field Trials provide an extended the season, a sportsmanlike environment and competition with others who enjoy bird dogs.
The Association was incorporated in 1978. NSTRA is a non-profit association with service to the members and sportsmanship as its goals.
This site is intended to assist you in becoming a new member and to provide all members with current information including Championship Trial results, Dog Records, Regional Data and Field Trial Schedules.
We hope you will visit our site often and tell your friends to visit too. Consider Membership in NSTRA. Attend a NSTRA trial in your area. You can find trial listings for you area on our NSTRA Regions Page.

Unfortunately, we have lost some good NSTRA members in the last few weeks. In addition to Ted Dewey, we lost longtime Oklahoma region member and president Ken Wohl on October 17. Ken, along with his wife Tarena, was an integral part of the Oklahoma region for many years also serving as a judge and the region judging instructor. A link to his obituary follows:
Janet Love, Indiana Region Member, passed away on October 13. Janet’s husband Tom, was one of the founders of NSTRA and Janet supported this organization wholeheartedly. Whether working in the kitchen at field trials, baking pies and cakes wherever needed or establishing the precursor to the NSTRA Distinguished Members’ award, Janet was an integral part of NSTRA’s history.
