MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR REGIONAL ELIMINATION WINNER
TO BE CERTIFIED AS NSTRA REGIONAL CHAMPION

The NSTRA Board of Directors has approved that the winner of region elimination trials be certified as NSTRA Regional Champions provided that the trials fall within specific guidelines. To that end NSTRA has develop the following minimum requirements which must be satisfied by any region desiring that their elimination winner be named as a NSTRA Regional Champion.

  • The minimum number of dogs drawn for the elimination trial shall be 24. Note that this is dogs drawn not entered.
  • The trial site shall be of sufficient size so that ten (10) birds can be released for a one hour brace without crowding.
  • There must be a minimum of 16 NSTRA sanctioned trials conducted within each region during the year preceding the regional elimination trial.
  • The trial shall consist of a minimum of one elimination round and a semi-final round before conducting the final one hour brace. The number of dogs advancing from round to round shall be determined by each region except that six dogs must be advanced to the semi-final round. Dog of the Year format will be used for all region elimination trials, i.e. top scores advance, no “beat your brace mate” formats.
  • Six dogs shall be brought back (based on top scores achieved during the elimination round(s) to compete in the semi-finals which shall consist of three one half hour braces. There will be five (5) birds released for each brace. The two dogs that achieve the highest score at the completion of the three one half hour braces shall advance to compete in a one hour brace. The next two highest scoring dogs in the semi-final rounds will be declared second and third runners up.
  • The two dogs that achieve the highest score at the completion of the three one half hour braces shall compete in a one hour brace. There shall be ten (10) birds released for this final round. The highest scoring dog will be declared the Regional Champion while the brace mate will be declared the first runner up.

The above requirements are in addition to the requirements found in the NSTRA rule book. Region elimination trials not meeting the above requirements for championship certification shall be conducted in accordance with those requirements found in the rulebook and other guidelines provided by NSTRA.
