Lifetime Achievement Award

NSTRA is proud to announce the development of the Lifetime Achievement Award. This will be an annual award given to "a deserving member that has shown leadership, enthusiasm, and insight towards the growth and maintenance of NSTRA and who should be recognized for outstanding efforts."

Our first recipient of this award was Tom Love of Pittsboro, Indiana. NSTRA has decided from here on out that the award will be called the Tom Love Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of its first recipient.

The second recipient is Ron Robertson of Plainfield, Indiana. Ronnie was presented the award during the 2003 Trial of Champions by the Tom Love family. Congratulations to a most deserving recipient!

Below is a short biography on Ronnie and pictures of him receiving the award along with his family at the 2003 annual Trial of Champions.

RON ROBERTSON

This gentleman was born and raised in Linton, Indiana and developed an interest in hunting early on – by going rabbit hunting with his Dad and uncles. As he grew up he even did a little trapping with some buddies. (Ask him about the time he and a buddy skinned a skunk in the basement!) It’s a wonderful story.

After a stint in the Marine Corps, he and his wife settled in Hendricks County where he became acquainted with bird hunters and specifically the Amo Conservation Bird Dog Club. He bought his first bird dog from Ralph Cooper. This was during the early ‘70’s. At that time, the clubhouse was being built along with a lake. Ron did the excavation for the lake and later did some clearing for a skeet shooting area.

He served a term as President of the Amo Conservation Bird Dog Club. As time went on and NSTRA was taking shape, he traveled to other regions to help get them familiar with NSTRA field trials. He served on the Board of Directors of NSTRA for approximately 10 years including two terms as NSTRA President. Since then he has served on various committees, as well as judging and field marshalling.

Ron takes great pride in being a member of NSTRA and what it stands for. He’s always there to extend his hand in welcome to a new member or engage in lively conversation with a fellow sportsman. He has a genuine interest in people and he will always have a genuine interest in NSTRA.
